### title
Parking Zones and Rules

### summary
[📆](Mon–Fri|Paid hours)
[📱](Apps|Mobile payment)

### description
Paid parking zones, residential permits, and basics to avoid fines and towing.

Paid parking in Polish cities is organized as Strefa Płatnego Parkowania (SPP). Hours and tariffs differ by city and zone; always follow the sign at zone entry and on the meter. Buy a ticket or start an app session immediately after you stop. Enforcement is done by municipal patrols using license-plate checks, so your plate number must be correct.

### common mistakes
**No ticket in paid hours**
Pay immediately after parking
---
**Ignoring loading/bus lanes**
Check local restrictions

### Paid parking hours
- Typically Mon–Fri during business hours; some cities also charge on Saturdays.
- Nights and Sundays are often free, but not everywhere. Always read the posted times on the sign “Strefa Płatnego Parkowania”.

### How to pay
- Ticket machines: select tariff, enter your license plate, pay by coins or card; keep the receipt. In many cities you do not need to place the ticket on the dashboard because the plate is in the system.
- Mobile apps: accepted apps vary by city; check the sticker on the meter/sign. Common options include [mPay](https://www.mpay.pl/), [SkyCash](https://www.skycash.com/), [moBiLET](https://mobilet.pl/), [AnyPark](https://anypark.pl/), or [Flowbird](https://flowbirdapp.com/). Save your plate, pick the zone, start/stop a session, and set a reminder.

### Residential permits (abonament mieszkańca)
- Apply at the city road/transport authority. Usually requires proof of residence and vehicle ownership/use.
- The permit is limited to streets around your address and often to one car; pricing and validity vary by city.
- Check your city website for required documents and where to collect or link the permit to your plate.

### Park & Ride (P+R)
- For full‑day visits near city centers, use official P+R car parks. They are free or low‑cost when combined with public transport tickets. Opening hours and rules differ—check onsite signage.

### Signage and markings basics
- Blue lines often mark paid spaces. Reserved bays (koperta) and disabled bays are marked separately—do not use them without authorization.
- No‑stopping/no‑parking signs and yellow curb lines override everything. Sidewalk parking is allowed only if signs/markings explicitly permit it and sufficient pedestrian space remains.
- Keep safe distances from junctions, crossings, bus/tram stops, and hydrants as posted or required by the highway code.

### Disabled parking
- Parking on a disabled bay requires a valid EU disability parking card displayed as instructed. Unauthorized use leads to high fines and potential towing.

### Enforcement, fines, and towing
- If you don’t pay or overstay, you may receive an additional fee (opłata dodatkowa). Early payment often reduces the amount—follow instructions on the notice.
- Serious or hazardous violations can result in a wheel clamp or towing (e.g., blocking driveways, bus lanes, hydrants, or reserved/disabled spaces).
- Appeals: instructions are printed on the notice. Provide evidence (ticket/app confirmation, photos of signage/meter issues) and submit within the stated deadline.
