### summary
[🎓](1–3 semesters|Duration)
[👛](Free|Eligible students)
[⚡](Quick employment|Practical focus)

### description
Post-secondary schools (szkoła policealna) are educational institutions where adults (age 18+) can obtain in-demand professions. The name has nothing to do with police—it simply means "after liceum" (po liceum).

**Target Students:** Secondary school graduates (age 19+)

**Duration:** Typically 1–3 semesters (6 months to 1.5 years)

**Purpose:** Practical vocational training leading directly to employment. Quick path to employment with practical focus and lower cost than university.

**Important Note (as of July 2025):**
Post-secondary school diplomas no longer automatically fulfill the B1 Polish language requirement for long-term EU residence permits. Exceptions apply for those who applied before July 2025 or graduated before July 2025.

**Diploma Types:**
- Świadectwo ukończenia szkoły policealnej (School completion certificate) — may fulfill B1 requirement
- Świadectwo uzyskania kwalifikacji zawodowych (Professional qualification certificate) — does NOT fulfill B1 requirement

**Important:** When choosing a specialty, check which type of diploma it provides if you need B1 language confirmation for citizenship applications.
